FAA Pilot Knowledge Tests (Airman Knowledge Tests) are federally required examinations for obtaining pilot certificates and ratings from the Federal Aviation Administration. These computer-based tests assess aeronautical knowledge in regulations, aerodynamics, weather, navigation, aircraft systems, and flight operations. Different tests are required for various certificate levels from Private Pilot through Airline Transport Pilot, as well as instrument ratings, flight instructor certificates, and the increasingly popular Part 107 Remote Pilot certificate for commercial drone operations.
